We turned this dream into reality for the Hughes family. Their vision was an open plan kitchen that not only meets the demands of a busy household but also exudes a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. And, of course, their beloved coffee machine needed a special place in this culinary haven!
The key to achieving this balance was the thoughtful selection of materials that combined colour and texture to create a warm and elegant ambiance. The drama and elegance of the beautifully crafted ash shaker ‘Haddon’ doors, colour-matched to Farrow and Ball Duck Green, are warmed by the sweeping walnut island worktops. We’ve added a complementing granite worktop in Cosentino Sensa Vancouver in high impact areas around the sink and prep spaces, pulling together the tones of other materials for a cohesive aesthetic.
We’ve further softened the design with patinated brass accessories, including the Quooker boiling water tap and handles. These elements beautifully complement the soft curves and smooth texture of the ceramic sink basins. The walnut floor and subway tiles add another dimension to the space, while Shelly’s choice of textured glass on the pendant lights and feature vase on the island continues this delightful interplay of textures.
In our quest for elegance, we never compromised on practicality. The coffee machine found its forever home in a stepped area, measured specifically around the appliance. This area is cloaked by double lifting electronic wall units, ensuring easy access without the need to reach high.
The Bora Puxa vented hob on the island allows the family to cook and socialize simultaneously, a modern twist to the traditional kitchen setup. The area above the wall units has been left free for house plants, adding character and comfort to the space.
The Showstopper
Our favourite feature is undoubtedly the Chef’s Pantry. Made in walnut, it houses the microwave, freeing up the kitchen worktop. The pantry is fitted with sensor lighting that beautifully illuminates the cupboard when the doors are open. The butler’s pantry spice racks on the doors are a dream come true for any home cook.
We are thrilled to have also completed works in the utility area, creating an efficient space for the Hughes family to enjoy. We worked closely with their builders, providing full electrical and plumbing specifications to ensure a smoothly run operation.
